Domestic and international terroristic acts have been a part of our society for many years with the intensity of those crimes increasing as the population increases. This phenomenon is bound to remain in our world as long as there are people who oppose viewpoints and idealism of other people. Based on whether the terrorist group is domestic or international organization, there are differences and similarities in how terror acts are carried out. According to â€Å"section 802 of the USA PATRIOT Act the definition of terrorism was expanded to cover domestic, as opposed to international, terrorism. Hate crimes are the chief cause of domestic terrorism here in the United States with more acts of deterrence occurring among single individuals acting alone to make a point of their disagreement in delicate matters, such as race, ethnicity, sexuality, or religion. This country was founded and formed on the freedom from all of these types of discrimination, but there still seems to be individuals who feel it is there place to â€Å"rid† the world of people who are different from themselves. Not only does hate crimes violate the above stated groups, but it also includes property and the victimization of whole societies. Timothy McVeigh is a prime example of a terroristic act stemming from hate. On April 19, 1995, he orchestrated the blowing up of the Murrah Federal Building in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma killing men, women, and sadly children. Initially charged to an Islamic Fundamentalists organization, this error in identification spurred numerous retaliatory, violent acts before it was concluded that Timothy McVeigh acted alone.
